iPod Touch – Camera is Less than 1MP

The new iPod Touch is hitting shelves this week with it’s slick new streamlined appearance.

The new model boasts a host of new features including a swish Retina Display screen and front and rear cameras for Apple’s prized FaceTime application.

The rear camera is heavily weighted for video capture over stills shots which have had to make way.

We may have expected a rear camera with megapixelage around the 5 mark following the latest iPhone, but in fact what we have is a camera at just 960 x 720 – less than 1MP.

Despite the fact the new iPod Touch is too weedy to take on a beefy iPhone 4 camera, the question of whether this will put off keen iPhotographers has to be offset by the price.

Stuffing a huge camera in there would have changed the focus on the iPod Touch away from all the old features we know and love and new programs like FaceTime.

Apple has declined to stick to the more bullish design of the classic iPod Touch on the basis most people will have a digital camera for everyday snapping snyway.

With this decision, they have been able to reign in the price on what would have otherwise been a more expensive bit of kit. The new iPod Touch is priced at £189 at Apple stores.
